It’s like an SHO, but faster
(and worse in almost every other way)
. Find it

The wheels are the best part (the Turbo III K engine is a close second)

I’m a huge fan of terrible automotive decisions and I’d never suggest that someone buy this piece of shit. Well, I might if it was free, but just for the wheels.

Those wheels are hideous. They need to go on something else. Like an Omni GLH.

Omnis are best malaise Mopar.

i still wouldn’t want that if someone put a hellcat in it and made it RWD too.

My dad had one. I learned to drive in it, simultaneously learning to drive a manual. They eat timing belts and head gaskets unless you put in a multi-layer-steel (MLS) head gasket, and last I checked Cometic stopped making them for that engine.

This car could hit 60mph in 5.8 seconds when new. Only two other sedans for sale were faster; the E34 M5 and the Alpina B10. This car could still dust a BRZ, FR-S, GTI, Focus ST, and any number of entry level sport cars today, all while looking like your grandmother’s library-mobile. Don’t hate; congratulate.

I think it’s way cool and exceptionally clean.... however, I can’t help but think about all the WAY better cars I can get for $8,500.

Now that is a sleeper! :O

the early ‘90s were a “special” time.

Carroll Shelby had a hand in these. No joke. A friend of mine had one. Not knowing what it was I made fun of it. He told me to hop in and took me for a ride - a very fast ride. It was the correct way to shut me and my trash talk up, and it worked.

It certainly was fast, though, it wasn’t really a driver’s car like the SHO was. That doesn’t make it any less awesome, however.

The exhaust tips? Yes, those are a bit ridiculous...

It would be perfect for ~$3,000 (even that may be a bit much)

I kind of like it, but the price is way too high.

I was aware of the timing belt issues, but not the head gasket issues (I’m not surprised though).
They seem like interesting cars. I wouldn’t be opposed to one if the price (and time) was right...

Knock about 4500 off and we’ll talk.

I have a feeling most people wouldn’t know it was anything special at first glance. That’s the power of a sleeper!

always liked these. found one in a U-pull it junk yard about 15 years ago. I was there looking for bucket seats i could make work in my 65 Chevelle (87 accord was perfect, btw) and saw it from across the lot. no wheels on it, sunk up to the doors in the mud. rear end caved in from an accident. but the engine was in it and was intact. the yard charged $100 for an engine, $75 for transmission. i plucked the engine, trans, computers and harness. $250 all in. I didn’t even have a car to put it in at the time. I was thinking Caravan or Dakota (both were available with a 2.5L so it would have been any easy swap) but i never got around to it. it sat in my garage for years until i moved. sold it for $1000.

the “silver lining” with the head gaskets is the failure is usually external coolant and oil leaks. luckily they’re non-interference engines, so losing the belt doesn’t take anything else out.

All in all, it sounds like a good deal.
